Mistarea arriving at her new
home. I missed her terribly!
We were fortunate to get Mistarea
back home on September 13, 2008
after it was discovered she
had been sent to a horse rescue.

We owned and loved Mistarea's
sire, dam & her Grandma. Here is a beautiful *Turfa mare with
lots of potential.
I had reluctantly sent her off
to Alberta on a free lease for a year due to my personal health issues.
I was happy to have her finally return home to us after 4.5 years. It was
a stressful time, as I had plans for training Mistarea for long distance
riding & after having to wait so long for her to be returned, I find
I haven't gotten any younger.
Upon Mistarea's return, I had
to postpone plans of training, etc as she
arrived home from
Alberta with with a swelling on the flat of her jaw. Mistarea
had a head injury when she caught her head between a gate & post soon
after her arrival in Alberta.
She did recover fully, but it
seems that she developed a build up of scar tissue on the outside of her
right jaw. This caused the flat of her jaw to be rounded rather than flat.
We had a thorough check
up done on her face & inside her mouth by a well respected Veterinarian
on Dec. 5, 2006.
We finally went ahead with her
training as planned. Though it was a blemish, it did not affect her in
any way.
This is a very special mare & her pictures do not do her justice. She has a gorgeous dished face, large, kind eyes & big nostrils, a beautifully shaped neck, nice sloping shoulders & a big, long hip.
Mistarea has an incredible trot
& and walks with a nice long stride. She was bred for her wonderful
temperament, intelligence & heart.
I was enjoying just seeing Mistarea
out in the field with my Miniature Horses. But I found myself feeling guilty,
just keeping her as a pet. Mistarea is gentle and sensible.
She has had 30 days training with Catherine
Meikle. I was thrilled with her progress!
I felt that Mistarea should
have a home where she would get more individual attention due to my health
issues. So, I reluctantly let her go to a new home. I made a big
mistake and thankfully, we found her.

Meikle.
We may eventually
breed Mistarea to a lovely Al Khamsa stallion at Cottonwood
Arabians.
located in Vernon, BC.

Here she is pictured after her
arrival home. She is a bit rough looking and sore due to apparently
being attacked by donkeys.
Thank you to Carolyn of Hooves
N Hounds for delivering Mistarea safely home to us.
She certainly looks different
than when we took her to her so call "Forever home!"
Update on Mistarea:
After Mistarea healed up from
her injuries, we discovered that ther lump on her face was getting bigger
and the lymph nodes were starting to swell.
A wonderful couple offered to
take Mistarea and get her help from their Vets in Alberta. It has been
a long process with three sets of radiographs, courses of lysine and natural
supplements, cancelled surgery, etc. It was discovered that Mistarea
had suffered a broken tooth which infected her jaw. This has now become
cancerous. Plans of breeding her were postponed as she is to have
surgery. Apparently, it will involve removing Mistarea's affected
jaw.
She is happy and seems to be
feeling good. But her time left is limited without surgery as the lymph
nodes can eventually close off her throat. So the next step is a CT scan
to determine just what surgery will be done, and if it can.
Now, there is consideration
to having radiation treatments as they feel the mass is too large and the
treatment should shrink it. A very difficult decision since she would need
to go to Washington for treatment.
All this is very costly and
my heartfelt thanks to Syed and Holly for doing all they can to save her
life.
We all love this special mare
and I am happy knowing she is in good hands.
I know they are giving her a
wonderful life, however long it is. We all pray for a complete recovery.
