Gracie pictured June 19, 2005
She is rather chubby as it rained for two weeks and she & her
buddies spent most of their time stuffing their faces in the barn!

Gradual improvement with frequent trims, but it didn't always last as her fetlock joint has started to have changes. We have found that it is important that Gracie be out to walk around & wear her feet normally, even in cold weather.

Here is Gracie getting her first shoe applied. It was freezing weather
& the hairdrier helped the glue harden quickly. She was pretty comfortable
laying down for her first shoe. We sure do appreciate our farrier, Ron
Burfoot. He always takes extra special care of our special needs horses.

Here is Gracie's aluminum shoe made just for her by Little
Bit's Magic Shoes.
At colder than -20c she feels the cold in her foot. Also as she
is so short, it puts a bit of a strain on her hip, as she swings her foot
more while wearing her shoe. So with all the snow & cold weather, we
have here, we decided to just remove Gracie's shoe to give her a break
for two months in the coldest weather.
Thank you Janell &
Little Bit's Magic Shoes for all your help. Also a big thank you to
Ron Burfoot, our much valued farrier.
We have a big place in our hearts for the special
needs and geriatric minis. We rehabilitate the needy as much as we can.
Unfortunately, finances don't always allow us to achieve every goal.
We are not a funded retirement home
& we raise a few foals each year for sale to approved homes and
I make
mini halters & humane dog collars to sell to help support our special
minis.
